We are seeking an experienced CTA Qualified Tax Manager to join our growing independent chartered accountancy firm. This is a unique opportunity for a motivated professional to manage a Tax department with route to Partnership. The role will initially start with managing a portfolio of circa 500 diverse clients, oversee tax returns, tax planning and tax strategy, tax investigations and any other work that comes up. The plan is that this role will very quickly take over all Tax matters from the 2 Partners, taking full control and decision making for Tax service line across the firm.
Key Responsibilities
Portfolio Management
- Manage a portfolio of 500 clients, ensuring timely and accurate preparation and submission of personal tax returns.
- Provide expert advice on tax planning opportunities tailored to client needs, including high-net-worth individuals, business owners, and SMEs.
- Handle complex tax queries, liaising with HMRC and clients as necessary.
Tax Strategy and Advisory
- Develop and implement innovative tax strategies to optimise clients’ financial positions while ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
- Advise clients on tax implications of significant life or business events, such as inheritance, investments, or business transactions.
- Keep abreast of tax legislation changes to proactively identify opportunities and mitigate risks for clients.
Department Leadership
- Oversee the operations of the tax department, ensuring efficiency, high-quality service, and adherence to deadlines.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop junior staff, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
- Alongside the Partner, establish and monitor KPIs for the team, delivering improvements in workflow and client satisfaction.
Strategic Growth and Partnership Development
- Work closely with the Partners to identify growth opportunities within the department and for the firm as a whole.
- Act as the primary contact for high-value clients, building strong relationships and promoting the firm’s reputation for expertise.
- Prepare to take full ownership of the tax department, paving the way for career progression.
Key Skills & Experience
- Qualifications: Must be CTA qualified.
- Experience: Proven experience managing a diverse client portfolio and leading tax advisory projects.
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of UK tax regulations, tax planning strategies, and compliance.
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to manage and inspire a team, with experience in resource planning and performance management.
